What The Wenches Are Reading

Source

As always, the Wenches have been firmly entrenched in the worlds our beloved authors weave for us, or what some people call reading. Some of us have been enjoying new releases — like Twice Tempted, Lover At Last, and Touch & Geaux, others, old favorites — like the Southern Vampire Mysteries, or we've just been itching to return to a series we might have left behind for that pesky thing we call Real Life. Click through to see what each of us has been reading this week!

Amanda: I've been with Ty & Zane all week reading the early released Touch & Geaux by Abigail Roux. It's so good to be back with my two favorite boys. Darn Real Life has kept me from blowing through it. Nevertheless, I have SO enjoyed listening to everyone else gush, squee, and cry over the events in the book. Somehow, I've been able to remain spoiler free!

Anne: Along with my Sookie re-read (currently on Dead & Gone), I've been obsessing over Touch & Geaux by Abi Roux. I love those boys so, so much. And good lord, Zane being a badass with the knife skills and the motorcycle stunts? I nearly died. I think I might have a Ty & Zane addiction problem. Do you think Deuce would accept me as a patient?

Angela: There was only one book in town for me and it was Touch & Geaux by Abigail Roux. Angst, badass Zane, hot sex, motorcycles, leather jackets, tender Ty. Doesn't get much better than this in the romance genre.

Barbara: As I write this I'm DYING to finish A Fistful of Charms, and preparing for a weekend trip home for family obligations. Hopefully by the time you read this I will have moved on to For a Few Demons More. I love these books more and more with each chapter. Jenks is just fantastic in A Fistful of Charms, and I gasped out loud at the decision Rachel made. Wonderful, wonderful storytelling. I can't believe no one recommended these to me sooner!

Beta: After Twice Tempted I haven't had time for much reading, but I finally finished Frost Burned by Patricia Briggs and I loved it! I'll probably go back to Jamie Fraser and Claire now. I miss them terribly, so I need to continue The Fiery Cross and get my Jamie fix.

Donna: This week I read two new releases: J.R. Ward's Lover At Last and Jeaniene Frost's Twice Tempted. To tell the truth, it was hard getting into them after being submerged in A Song of Fire and Ice for so long. I liked Cat popping up in Book 2 of Vlad's Night Prince trilogy, but I missed Bones! I hope JF brings Bones, Ian, and Spade in to torment Vlad in the next book (because he deserves it and it would be so funny!).

Jaymie: I'm still reading Channeling Morpheus, so nothing new to report.

Katherine: I was blown away by Touch & Geaux this past week, and Sticks & Stones, so I'm thinking I might just have to re-read them slowly this time. When I am done with those I plan to launch into my SVM re-read in order to prepare for last installment. Eric, here I come!!

Kathi: Finished Twice Tempted in record time and decided to head back to the Outlander world to read the Lord John Grey series of historical mysteries chronologically, more or less. Read the short story Lord John & the Hellfire Club, from the anthology titled Lord John & the Hand of Devils. Then started Lord John & the Brotherhood of the Blade, which is a book of reasonable length (i.e., not as long as Outlander). Lord John is about to visit Jamie, who is working at Helwater, just to give you an idea where this story fits into the Outlander timeline. I swooned right off the couch when I read about that plan. It has been far too long since I visited with Jamie Fraser.

Merit: Reading two books this week: The Brotherhood of the Blade by Diana Gabaldon, another Lord John story revealing more details about his past and his family, and adding new layers to his character. The Good, the Bad, and the Undead by Kim Harrison, and Rachel Morgan is slowly growing on me. Reading alternately between two very different stories, both good entertainment.

Olga: After having ripped my heart to pieces with the ending of the 7th Cut & Run novel, Touch & Geaux by Abigail Roux, I wanted to read something similar but not quite. So I ended up reading Caught Running by Madeleine Urban and Abigail Roux. The sex is mind blowing, but other than that, I decided that romance (even m/m) is not my thing. At least I stopped thinking about Ty and Zane. This week, though, I'm planning a reread of the SVM. Sans the first book. Too much neighborly stalking and disturbing graveyard raping, thank you very much. Living Dead In Dallas, here I come! Eric in pink spandex, wait for meeeeeeee!

Veronica: I finished Touch & Geaux by Abigail Roux, which turned my world upside down. I'm still processing everything that happened, and we've already got an excerpt from Book #8! I took a few days off from reading, and then started the Turbulence series by Jordan Castillo Price. It wasn't quite what I was expecting (paranormal m/m), but the mystery has got me hooked, and I've been reading at the pace of about 3 installments a day.

Zee: I read Home For The Holidays by Jeaniene Frost (in the anthology The Bite Before Christmas), because I had a hard time letting go of her world after Twice Tempted, and it was the BEST F***ING novella EVER!!! I tried reading Lover At Last, but could not get past the first couple of chapters. Getting back into The Hollows when I have the time!

  1. Over the last few days I've been reading little snippets of Magic Bites. I'm only about 60 pages in and my horrible memory and I are completely confused. I may have to start over.

    1. I hate it when that happens if you haven't read a book for a while and it's part of a series. Sometimes I think to myself. When did that happen?

    2. I know how you feel!! I should write cheat sheets for all the series I read, so I can remember who does what and when and where. Because sometimes I don't really want to start with book 1. On the other hand, sometimes it's like discovering a brand new series every time I reread. :-)

  2. Don't worry about Jamie, Beta. I've been keeping him company. :-)
