“No offense, but what on earth could I ask of you that would be a great hardship?” His gaze rested on my mouth before making its way to my eyes again. “You could ask for the world, and then where would civilization be when I conquered it and laid it at your feet?”

Why read a long series? Be daring and trust us!

Say you have a friend and she's constantly gushing over a book and she's trying to get you to read it. Let's say you are not like me who avoids those books like the plague just because someone else recommended them. No, you decide to read the book. You ask your friend to lend you this amazing piece of literature and she does. But just as she's handing it to you she drops this little nugget: „this is the first book in a series of 15 books so far and there are more coming out“. Now what??
Do you:
1.Run away never looking back?

2.Decide to be brave and take on this daunting task?

3.Say you'll wait for the TV show?

After the jump we'll try to give you all the necessary reasons to choose number two.

“I walked stiffly past the worst hussy of them all: my former BFF, who'd apparently decided to move in. Jessica had been at the restaurant every day for over two weeks. Most days more than once. I knew she was hot for my man, but holy cow.

Clearly I'd have to say yes to Reyes soon. This was getting ridiculous. he needed a ring on his finger--and fast.”

I looked at him and said, matter-of-fact, "Mr.Chao can bite my ass."
As if made of stone, Mr. Chao's expression remained utterly blank. I got the feeling he would enjoy torturing me. And call me sentimental, but damn it, I liked bringing joy to the world.

“Reyes. Alexander. Farrow," I said.

Seconds after I spoke his name, Reyes walked into his bedroom, and I looked across the open space directly from my room into his.

He waited for me to continue.

"I feel like there's something missing from my bedroom."

A dimple appeared at the corner of his mouth. "You don't say."

"Any idea what that might be?"

He glanced around my room as well, then shrugged. "I can't imagine."

"Oh, wait," I said, stepping from my room into his, "wasn't there something here? Like, I don't know, a wall or something?"

He looked up. "You could be right. I do seem to remember a barrier of some kind here."

"Yep," I said, stepping closer, "I definitely remember a partition separating our apartments." When his only response was a mischievous tilt of his full mouth, I asked, "Where did you put my wall?"

He crossed his arms over his chest and leaned again…

Review: Sixth Grave on the Edge by Darynda Jones

Image
It has been some time since I last wrote up a review for the Charley Davidson series by Darynda Jones for the Wenches. The gap in reviews has not been for lack of material, since in that time there have been a couple more books published in my beloved series, but because other Wenches love the books as much as I do. However just this past week book number six in the Charley series came out and, let me tell you, book six has got this Wench not only on the edge but fully over the edge and needing another hit.

My love for this series has grown exponentially and if you follow me through the jump I’d be happy to tell you how Sixth Grave on the Edge has me begging for my next hit the same way Charley begs for coffee!

“Hey, wait,” I said, pulling back, “you are the son of Satan. Maybe we need a safe word.”

His grin morphed into something wickedly charming. “Okay, how about, 'Oh, my god, it's so big.'”

Laughter burst out of me before I could stop it. Not that it wasn't. “That would be a safe phrase, but okay.” I thought about it, then said, “How about 'Is that all you've got?'”

A sharp thud sounded and we all stood there a stunned moment before Garret looked back at me and crumpled to the ground. I glanced at Cookie. At the frying pan she had in both hands like a baseball bat.

Another grunt from Reyes had me lunging forward. I took hold of the dagger, braced a foot on the wall beside him, and pulled. The blade slid out easier than I thought it would, and I fell back with it.

"No killing friends in the house," Cookie said, terrified and shaking. "I am so glad I didn't have a son. Boys are so destructive and violent."

My phone pinged. It was a text from Cookie.

"I'm not that good at cocking guns."

Really? Did she not know me at all? I texted her back.

"You can do this. Learn the cock, Cookie.
    Know the cock.
    Be the cock."

Review: Fifth Grave Past the Light

Image
Fifth Grave Past the Light, the highly anticipated (by me and some of the other Wenches) fifth book in Darynda Jones’s wickedly funny, dark, action-packed, and very sexy Charley Davidson urban fantasy series is finally here!!

I am always a bit reluctant to start a new book in any series that I love. I know it’s the beginning of the end―before I know it, I’ll be sorry that the book has ended, and I’ll have a long wait on my hands... AGAIN.

Fifth Grave Past the Light was all I had hoped it would be and more! It was a deliciously delightful experience and, though yes, I am sad to be waiting again for the next book, after the jump I’ll tell you a little about why I loved this book.

Quote of The Day

I strode toward Mr. Coffee with lust in my eyes. We'd had a thing for quite some time now, Mr. Coffee and I, and there was just enough of him left for one more cup. No need to make a fresh pot, to get him all hot and bothered. I popped the cup into the microwave, set it to nuke anything unfortunate enough to be caught within its grasp for thirty seconds, then raided my fridge for sustenance.

Cookie had yet to fully recover. He tilted his head in greeting as though tipping an invisible hat.

The smile that stole across her face was the stuff of legend. Or, well, Rice Krispie treats: soft, sweet and on the verge of melting into a lump of sticky goo. She offered him a breathy hi, and it took every ounce of willpower I had not to chuckle. Not because I was worried about embarrassing her. Embarrassing her was one of my main goals in life. Right behind designing wedgie-free boxer shorts.

A sheriff arrested me. I could be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure my men-in-uniform fetish began that day.

The sheriff was hot. And he handcuffed me. I've never been the same.

A review of Darynda Jones's Charley Davidson series by Guest Wench Natalie

Hello, Fellow Saucy Wenches! It’s January, and if you’re like me, that list of “To Be Read” is wicked long, almost to the point of ever growing and never ending. I mean really, what’s a Saucy Wench to do? Well, add to that list, of course! My TBR list is constantly being added to through various ways:
Recommendations from my fellow Wenches (these are often the ones I like the most). The Goodreads recommendations section, based on books I’ve read. (If you don't have a Goodreads account, I highly recommend creating one and using it to track what you've read!) Let’s not forget about the next books to be released in series I follow. I mean, duh, why would I not want to know what is going to happen next to my favorite characters?Recommendations from fellow friends and family who are also “book pushers”.Other media, such as People magazine or ads about movies being adapted from books, etc.
I think you mor…
