“Know the best thing about being dismissed as an insatiable whore? People don’t mind their tongues around you. I’ve learned more information eavesdropping while I was mid-orgy than I have from spying on G7 summits, but that’s off topic.”

~ Jeaniene Frost, Shades of Wicked (Night Rebel #1)

"If you want me to stop, then stop me," he murmured before I felt the brush of his fangs on my throat. If my heart had been capable of beating, it would have started to race. I could not be in a more treacherous situation. So why did a reckless part of me want to tilt my head back to give him better access?

"Say no," he went on. "Or shove me away, and I'll stop." Then his tone turned darkly promising. "But if you do neither, I absolutely won't stop."

"You might be attractive, but not everyone wants to have sex with you." As soon as I said it, I cringed. Did that sound as overly defensive as I felt?

"No, some people also want to kill me," he said at once. "Some want me to turn them into a vampire, some want my money, some want me for my rare artifacts, some for my fighting skills, and one wants to dangle me out as bait for a demon she's trying to kill. See? No one is with me simply to be with me."

ARC Review: Shades of Wicked by Jeaniene Frost

Image
In this thrilling new Night Rebel series set in New York Times bestselling author Jeaniene Frost’s Night Huntress world, sexy and ruthless vampire Ian finally meets his match!
The Rule Breaker
Master vampire Ian is unrepentant, shameless…and every shade of wicked. He’s made one too many enemies in his two centuries of existence, including Dagon, a demon who now lays claim to his soul. Ian’s only chance to escape Dagon is to join forces with a Law Guardian, but he’s never been able to abide by the rules for long.
The Law Maker
Veritas’ normal role is police, judge and jury to reprobates like Ian. But she has her own ax to grind with Dagon, so if she can use Ian as bait…well, all’s fair in law and war. As they scour supernatural hotspots to perfect their trap, Veritas soon realizes Ian’s devil-may-care, roguish image hides something much more powerful. And Ian discovers that Veritas has shocking secrets of her own. As they’re drawn to each other with a passion as intense as their peril, eit…

Still, his arms felt strong and secure and his body was warm and solid and he smelled really, really good.

"Stop that," Ian said, lightly tugging my hair. Only then did I realize I'd ripped his collar open to nuzzle his neck.

Instead of being embarrassed, I found myself giggling. "Sorry. Want to eat you," I said with complete sincerity.

"Of course you do. Everybody does."

Review: Into the Fire

Image
Into the Fire, the last of the Night Prince books by Jeaniene Frost, was released on February 28th of this year. This book has been a long time coming and I'm really glad it's finally here. I have always loved Vlad and I really enjoy Leila and all of the other new characters introduced in this series. But, I think that it is definitely time for this series to come to an end. This book has been out for awhile, so I'm not going to hold back on the spoilers. So, be warned, spoilers abound! Keep reading after the jump to read my thoughts on Vlad's last book.

"I should assure you that in bed you have nothing to prove to me, or that I've never enjoyed making love to anyone more, but only a fool passes up what you just offered me. Now, I am short on some props, and there isn't nearly enough time in one night to run through all the ways I've fantasized about taking you, but I promise you this..." His voice deepened. "You'll be scandalized in the morning when you can think again."

"Yes, priorities,” Vlad agreed in a light tone. Then to Ian, he said, “Touch me again, and I’ll feed your limbs to a pack of wolves.”
Ian shook his head. “Can’t even pretend to be marginally sane, can you?"

Fangirl Friday: Vlad Dracul

Image
Vladislav Basarab Dracul (From Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress and Night Prince novels.) Vlad Tepesh, Vlad the Impaler, Prince, no matter what name you know him by, you know two things to be true.
He is an arrogant, charming, loyal, deadly man. Don't EVER call him Dracula. For those of you who don't know who I'm talking about, do yourselves a favor and pick up Jeaneine Frost's Night Prince series, and the Night Huntress series while you're at it. That is where we meet Vlad Dracul, vampire, pyrokinetic, and subject of this week's Fangirl Friday!

First things first, let me just say that sometimes, Vlad is a controlling, utterly irritating, great big bag of dicks. He is so infuriating sometimes I want to shake him. But, the logical part of my brain knows why he does what he does. So, I just shake my head and wait for him reveal why he acted like he did. He always makes me love him again. And, after reading Bound by Flames, I love him more than ever.  Why do I …

Bound... and Determined! (A review of Bound by Flames by Jeaniene Frost)

(Wench Care) Welcome aboard, Saucy Readers! It's been an exciting couple weeks for new releases! Wench Anne and I were the only two (as I recall) who weren't in the process of devouring Burned as soon as it came out, but really that seems to only have been because we were saving up all our loves for the release of the newest Vlad book from Jeanine Frost: that's right, Night Prince #3, Bound by Flames released on January 27! Now, personally, I'd been so caught up in reading The Belgariad and The Malloreon that I'd completely lost track of the date. So the evening of the 26th found me frantically racing through the first two books trying to get ready for the third. Unsurprisingly, but also wonderfully, it was totally worth the effort!

(Wench Anne) I was waiting with bated breath for bound by flames. Initially, I just reread Twice Tempted. But, after reading that, I had to go back to Once Burned. I just couldn't get enough of Leila and Vlad. And, now, while I want …

Say you have a friend and she's constantly gushing over a book and she's trying to get you to read it. Let's say you are not like me who avoids those books like the plague just because someone else recommended them. No, you decide to read the book. You ask your friend to lend you this amazing piece of literature and she does. But just as she's handing it to you she drops this little nugget: „this is the first book in a series of 15 books so far and there are more coming out“. Now what??
Do you:
1.Run away never looking back?

2.Decide to be brave and take on this daunting task?

3.Say you'll wait for the TV show?

After the jump we'll try to give you all the necessary reasons to choose number two.

I Don't Want to Say Goodbye, But I Have To

When should an author end a series? You know the drill. 200 books down the line and you're thinking "enough already!!!" Perhaps you have doggedly followed the author. Loved the first 4 or 5 books and just want a satisfactory ending for your favourite characters. You've stuck with the author through thick and thin. Stalked them on Tumblr and Twitter. Joined the Goodreads and Facebook groups as you dissect every single action that was ever undertaken through the novels. Whether Eleanora has porridge for breakfast or it you really can survive on a diet of coffee and takeaways. I'm still trying to work out how coffee can keep the motor running with all the leaping and jumping the heroine / hero has to undertake in a day. I need to remember to include a bucket-load of sugar into my caffeine hit. But it is possible in a novel.

But after a while a series gets to that point where fresh ideas are starting to wane, the action starts to feel a bit repetitive and before you …
