Review: Hurts To Love You by Alisha Rai

Well-behaved women don’t lust after men who love to misbehave.

Heiress Evangeline Chandler knows how to keep a secret . . . like her life-long crush on the tattooed hottie who just happens to be her big brother’s friend. She’s a Chandler, after all, and Chandlers don’t hook up with the help. Then again, they also don’t disobey their fathers and quit their respectable jobs, so good-girl rules may no longer apply.

Gabriel Hunter hides the pain of his past behind a smile, but he can’t hide his sudden attraction to his friend’s sheltered little sister. Eve is far too sweet to accept anything less than forever and there’s no chance of a future between the son of a housekeeper and the town’s resident princess.

When a wedding party forces Eve and Gabe into tight quarters, keeping their hands off each other will be as hard as keeping their clothes on. The need that draws them together is stronger than the forces that should shove them apart . . . but their sparks may not survive the explosion w…

“Strength isn’t about how much you cry or the bad nights you might have. Strength is here.” She tapped Livvy’s forehead. “And here.” She poked a blunt finger into Livvy’s chest. “You can be strong and have moments of incredible despair, when everything feels like it’s collapsing in on you, and yes, when you feel like you want to die. Those moments are not weaknesses. They are simply moments. And they are not you.”Alisha Rai'sHate To Want You.

Review: Hate To Want You by Alisha Rai.Alisha Rai is one of our go to authors for spectacular romances. I literally pre-order her books on Amazon THE DAY that button shows up. So, obviously, I was more than happy to get my hands on book one of her new The Forbidden Hearts series, Hate To Want You. (I seriously cannot thank her enough for letting me read this early. It made my year!)

One night. No one will know.

Those were the rules.

You guys, it is so.fucking.good. This book yanked me out of a horrible reading and reviewing slump! I couldn't put the book down, thought about it ALL day when I had to step away from it, and couldn't stop rereading bits once I was done with it. And that cover. That cover is so beautiful it hurts!
There are some books too good for me to even think about adding spoilers to the review, in fact, I just want to shout "READ IT! READ IT, PLEASE! YOU WILL LOVE IT SO MUCH!" and not say anything, because it's just that good. But, apparently, that…

He pulled away. His eyes were glazed with lust, underscored by something that looked an awful lot like... resignation? "Of course. I knew from the moment I heard your name."
Skeptical, she cocked her head. "Before you even saw me? How'd you know I didn't gain three hundred pounds and a hunchback over the last decade?"
His lips twisted. "I met you when you were chubby and had frizzy hair and acne."
A gasp escaped her lips. So she'd had a bit of an awkward phase. Bringing it up now was hardly gentlemanly. "Shut up, Caine."
"My point is, I wanted you then. I still want you now. When I walked away from you all those years ago, I knew that wanting would never stop." He tucked a strand of hair - sleek, not frizzy hair, thank you very much - behind her ear. "Prettiness helps, Tatiana, but you and me? It's always been more. We're like a moth and a flame."
"Who's the  moth?"
"Who cares?"

Ugh, morning people. They were the grossest.

"What are your plans for the day?"

Correction. Talkative morning people were the grossest.

“His lips slammed down on hers and cut off her words.
For a split second, she could only sit, stunned, as his mouth moved on hers. What. The. Fuck.  Had she ever been kissed like this? Had he ever kissed like this? Because he kissed like he hadn’t tasted a woman in forty years, like she was the last woman on earth. He kissed like there would be no beginning or end without her.  He kissed her like he…wanted her.”

You can love someone deeply, irrevocably, and still love yourself and others enough to live without them. You stay with people you love because life is better with them, not because you'll die otherwise.

Wench Review of...

Alisha Rai's The Karimi Siblings SeriesSo I've already talked about Alisha Rai and her unbelievably amazing erotica, Glutton For Pleasure, Serving Pleasure, and A Gentleman In The Streets in my review post here. And I mentioned how I am slowly making my way through everything she's written or recommends because I think I may love her.

Diversity, interracial relationships, portraying different cultures without judgment or ridicule (so far she's hit three of 4 cultures my parents and their parents are from, and it's been ACCURATE without being offensive in ANY way), a pretty accurate depiction of being the children of immigrants in a culture vastly different from the ones their parents came from. I mean, really, I could go on about all the things Ms. Rai gets right. And then some. But instead I'll just stick to reviewing The Karimi Siblings books!

Three Alisha Rai Mini-ReviewsI was browsing through Netgalley looking for something that would catch my eye. And I stumbled across this cover :

Yeah.. pretty great cover. But it had a couple of things that made me sit up, A woman of color on the cover........ you have no idea how rare that is, for a WOC to be a main character. ESPECIALLY on mainstream erotica (or any genre really) book covers. Two guys, TOTALLY my guilty pleasure to read.. if I felt any actual guilt over it.

I read Glutton For Pleasure fast! It was short and sweet. I'll be honest, it didn't really.. get to me. But, there was just SOMETHING about the author's writing that made me want to read something else by her. Maybe it was the INSANELY hot, knicker melting, off-the-charts sex. Maybe it was the fact that I didn't want to give up on an author writing diverse men and women and changing up the erotica game a little. But something made me head to my Kindle and one click buy A Gentleman In The Street and

"Right." She picked up her cinnamon roll and pulled off the outer ring. "Well? Go ahead. Try my buns."
"Are you going to keep up this play on words going for a while, or..." "Yes. Because I'm emotionally twelve, and I giggle every time I say the word buns." She widened her eyes. "Guess what happens when I meet a man named Richard? Oh, man. So many dick jokes."

"In fact, schedule a call with HR so we can look at our maternity-leave policies across the board."
When Tammy said nothing, she looked at the other woman. The assistant's face was nonplussed. "Is there a problem?" Akira inquired. "No, ma'am. That is.. very kind of you, is all." Hardly. "I like hiring good, competent women. It's not our fault parasites can grow inside our wombs and wreck our bodies and imbalance our hormones." "Um.." "I mean, it's not our fault delightful gifts from God bless our lives. And everything else."
