Some had been smart and some had been funny, and others still had given him big eyes while being both. And he loved women. He loved the filthy temptresses and the newly, earnestly horny, and the women who fucked for money. Rachel wasn't special because they were less... She was special because they were all fucking amazing, and she still felt like more. There was no one trait, no logical reason. Nothing he could point to and say, This, this makes her better than those other women. No defining moment where his honest lust for everything she represented had slipped over the line into this gnawing, obsessive hunger he couldn't escape. She was a work of art. Jared saw the paint and the canvas and a few pleasant shapes. Ace felt the earth move.
BEYOND JEALOUSY(BEYOND #4) by Kit Rocha.

Fangirl Friday: Kit Rocha's Beyond series.

Image
The other day I happened to be going through my old Kindle, deleting stuff and checking out books I had bought because I am a sucker for sexy covers. I had bought SO many books purely based on hot people on the cover it was kind of funny. I came across a bundle I had bought a while ago, the first three Beyond books and thought "well, why not?"

I had attempted reading the first book last year, but my mood was way off, and I just never got into it. Timing matters. This time around, I made my way through the first 4 books in less than a week, even though I was barely home! So what better thing to Fangirl over this week than the wonderfully gritty, uncompromisingly sexy, intense, sometimes dark, always intriguing Beyond series! (I will keep spoilers to the minimum! But there will be quotes from the books.)

Six was swaying too, crushed between Noelle and one of the newer girls -- Ace's apprentice, Emma. It made a hell of a picture, Noelle sweet and soft and Six with her stark, hard edges and Emma a mixture of pretty and punk, covered in ink.   They looked like they came from different worlds, but they laughed like they were family. And when Six twisted around to meet his eyes, the slow smile that curved her lips was drunk on a feeling he recognized all too well.   Belonging.  Kit Rocha's Beyond Pain (Beyond #3)

Review: American King by Sierra Simone

Image
Regular readers will recall that many of us were blown away by Sierra Simone's Priest, which led me to her fabulous romp, P*rn Star(review here), and the first installment in what would become her New Camelot series, American Queen (review here). American Queen so thoroughly captivated me that I devoured the second book, American Prince (review here) and had to wait impatiently for the final installment, American King, which finally released on Halloween, and I read as quickly as I could.

Come with me through the jump and I'll tell you why you should definitely pick up the New Camelot trilogy now that it's wrapped up with a strong, dominant, triangle-shaped bow. I'll keep King spoilers to a minimum, but I assume you've read Queen and Prince

The first step of understanding anything--whether it's the Bible or Fifty Shades of Grey--us acknowledging that we come to it with agendas of our own. We want it to mean something, we are biased whether we know it or not, and usually what we walk away with is what we want to walk away with.

Not Really A Review: The Siren by Tiffany Riesz

Image
A few years ago I discovered the Dark Romance sub-genre and have been flirting with it ever since. I enjoy the darkness, liking the way the fuckedupness of the characters in these kinds of stories makes me feel well-adjusted and totally sane. I've enjoyed tales of kidnapping, faking one's own death, mafia antics, and motorcycles gangs, and I've read my fair share of BDSM erotica. So when I picked up The Siren, I thought I was prepared for it. I was not.

I'm going to tell you up front that I enjoyed this book, loving the way it grabbed me from the beginning and never let go. The thing is that that grab wasn't for good reasons, though, but because the story and the characters were so utterly fucked up. The female lead is not a good person and I can't really tell which fellow is the male lead, although her ending up with either of them would be terrible. And the side characters are fascinatingly broken but not people I want to be friends with. The things that they …

Review: Hate To Want You by Alisha Rai.Alisha Rai is one of our go to authors for spectacular romances. I literally pre-order her books on Amazon THE DAY that button shows up. So, obviously, I was more than happy to get my hands on book one of her new The Forbidden Hearts series, Hate To Want You. (I seriously cannot thank her enough for letting me read this early. It made my year!)

One night. No one will know.

Those were the rules.

You guys, it is so.fucking.good. This book yanked me out of a horrible reading and reviewing slump! I couldn't put the book down, thought about it ALL day when I had to step away from it, and couldn't stop rereading bits once I was done with it. And that cover. That cover is so beautiful it hurts!
There are some books too good for me to even think about adding spoilers to the review, in fact, I just want to shout "READ IT! READ IT, PLEASE! YOU WILL LOVE IT SO MUCH!" and not say anything, because it's just that good. But, apparently, that…

Fangirl Fridays – Inside Out Series by Lisa Renee Jones

Image
Have you ever read one of Lisa Renee Jones’s books? Her stories are a blend of drama, suspense, and dark erotica.
Escaping Reality (The Secret Life of Amy Benson #1) was my first experience with LRJ’s books. The heroine, Amy, was on the run, her life in mortal danger, and I was running with her, unable to figure out whom to trust, who was friend, and who was foe.
That series made me look for more from this author. Next, I picked up If I Were You, the first installment in the Inside Out series. After the jump, I’ll share my take on this story of dark desires and intrigues.

Quote of the Day

I still think he looks beautiful in the moonlight, Ash said to me once, and I see it now. Perhaps everyone looks better in moonlight, but only Embry can look like this, like a decadent prince after the candles are snuffed, left alone with his regret and grief. Like an ancient statue, chipped and cracked and still the epitome of male beauty. Except with Embry, all the chips and cracks are on the inside, visible only in the icy flare of those blue eyes, the bitter twist of his lips when he thinks no one is looking.

Quote of the Day

And it's so much responsibility, having this kind of power and control. The weight of someone's safety and catharsis. How does he do it? How does he hold that corner of his mind open for compassion and evaluation while he gives himself over to the monster inside? My monster has no corners, my monster has no compassion. He has only need.

Quote of the Day

"But a kiss is about being in sync with someone. The decisions are often thoughtless. Without words, you are choosing which angle your head will tilt, to open your mouth, let someone take over with tongue and teeth or fight it out.

I wasn't just kissing her.
I want a wordless conversation. I want to be in sync with her. I want to be thoughtless with a woman who is intent on revenge fucking me."
Dakota Gray's Perv.

Quote of the Day

He pulled away. His eyes were glazed with lust, underscored by something that looked an awful lot like... resignation? "Of course. I knew from the moment I heard your name."
Skeptical, she cocked her head. "Before you even saw me? How'd you know I didn't gain three hundred pounds and a hunchback over the last decade?"
His lips twisted. "I met you when you were chubby and had frizzy hair and acne."
A gasp escaped her lips. So she'd had a bit of an awkward phase. Bringing it up now was hardly gentlemanly. "Shut up, Caine."
"My point is, I wanted you then. I still want you now. When I walked away from you all those years ago, I knew that wanting would never stop." He tucked a strand of hair - sleek, not frizzy hair, thank you very much - behind her ear. "Prettiness helps, Tatiana, but you and me? It's always been more. We're like a moth and a flame."
"Who's the  moth?"
"Who cares?"

Alisha Rai…

Quote of the Day

Image
“His lips slammed down on hers and cut off her words.
For a split second, she could only sit, stunned, as his mouth moved on hers. What. The. Fuck.  Had she ever been kissed like this? Had he ever kissed like this? Because he kissed like he hadn’t tasted a woman in forty years, like she was the last woman on earth. He kissed like there would be no beginning or end without her.  He kissed her like he…wanted her.”

Quote of the Day

Because - wait for it - women don't like dick pics.
At the early stages of dating, there's basically nothing more aggressive and off-putting than sending a lady you're interested in a shot of your junk. Doesn't matter if you're hung like a horse - that shot will make her cringe. My app offered a haven for women, a promise that they wouldn't be photographically assaulted by unwelcome cock shots.

Quote of the Day

“K-dar,” Nora said and tapped the side of her nose. “Kinksters can smell it on each other. And my Wesley smells like warm vanilla.”
“Wonder what I smell like.” Zach cursed himself for accidentally speaking the words aloud.
Nora cocked her head at him; Zach’s heart started to race. She rose up out of her chair and slid onto the top of the kitchen table. She stretched across it and put her nose at his neck. Slowly, she inhaled. A slight rush of air whispered over Zach’s skin and he immediately knew what every muscle in his body was doing.
“Not kink. But not vanilla, either. Smells like…curiosity. It killed the cat, you know.”
“Nora,” Zach said in a warning tone. J.P. would yank him off Nora’s book in a heartbeat if he saw them right now.
“S&M is as psychological as it is physical and sexual, Zach. Imagine being as deep inside a woman’s mind as you are inside her body.”

“That was the thing about love, though, wasn’t it? When you loved somebody, you wanted to give them everything you could. You wanted what was best for them, no matter what. You wanted them to move beyond what was awful and terrible, beyond anything that had ever hurt them.”

Authors That Made 2015 A Better Reading Year For UsThe past couple of months haven't been great for me in a lot of ways, and for the first time ever, I've gone a while without reading. But, 2015 has been GREAT for me discovering new authors! And wondering where they'd been all my life!

So as this year comes to a close, I figured, why not share our favorite author discoveries of 2015 with our lovely readers!

Hold Me Close by Megan Hart

Image
We're always happy to read a new story by the amazing Megan Hart. Although, maybe "happy" wouldn't be the right word for the emotional roller coaster you're on for the duration of the book. She unfailingly delivers a story that makes you want to weep for so many reasons, and feel everything the main character is feeling.

Hold Me Close was no exception. I knew it would be a difficult one when I read the blurb. But wow. Ms. Hart deals with dark and difficult subject matter in a way I have yet to see another author do.

Apart, they are broken, but together, they are whole.
Effie and Heath are famous. Not for anything they did, but for what happened to them as teenagers. Abducted and abused by the same man, they turned to each other for comfort until they were finally able to make their escape. Now adults, their relationship is fraught with guilt and despair. Whether fighting or making love, their passion is strong enough to destroy them both — and Effie's not about…
