She'd never outright told him anything. But she'd never had to. He knew. Dames like her didn't hunt down an addiction lessin there was a damn good reason, and she'd sure as fuck hunted it down. He'd watched her do it, from the first time she showed up in Downside. Watched her not even fight with herself over it, least not what he could see.  {snip} Funny, she had all that ink on her skin to protect her from ghosts and magic, and he were damn sure doing what he could to protect her outside that, but weren't anything he could do to keep her safe from the memories. He knew how that felt, too. Wrong Ways Down ~~Stacia Kane

"Terrible," she managed. "You know how to use this thing?" He pulled away to meet her gaze, and for a minute he was transformed.  Still the same features, the lumpy nose and the jutting brow and the hard, dark eyes, but not ugly anymore.  Full of character.  Full of strength.  She looked at his face but she didn't see it, not the way she had before.  The smile spreading across his features was intimate, sexy.  The darkness of his eyes concealed so much more that she'd ever imagined. "Oh, aye," he said.  "You gonna let me show you?"

Whether they deserve our Kick Ass heroines. And just where they belong on the Alpha totem pole. Our book boyfriends are a large part of the "general inappropriateness" and "fangirling" we talk about so much. The men who get our pulses racing, our hearts melting, our eyes tearing up, who can make us get angrier at them than the heroine is or forgive them faster than the heroine does. The men who are responsible for many sighs and swoons. The ones we WANT the women we adore to end up with. And the reason we invest so heavily in their HEAs. (Mainly because we can't have them... since life isn't fair.) So I sat down and thought about it, and almost changed my mind about doing this post at all. I COULD NOT CHOOSE! It was like picking which toe I would willingly cut off. I wro...
