“We cannot forget joy. No matter how deep our rage and pain.”

Review: Ocean Light by Nalini Singh

Ocean Light just released a couple of weeks ago — a new installment in one of my favorite series, set in one of my favorite paranormal worlds, and written by one of my favorite authors, Nalini Singh. So I somehow found time to read it, in spite of my schedule, and I wanted to let you know how I liked it.

Goodreads Synopsis Security specialist Bowen Knight has come back from the dead. But there's a ticking time bomb in his head: a chip implanted to block telepathic interference that could fail at any moment — taking his brain along with it. With no time to waste, he should be back on land helping the Human Alliance. Instead, he's at the bottom of the ocean, consumed with an enigmatic changeling...

Kaia Luna may have traded in science for being a chef, but she won't hide the facts of Bo's condition from him or herself. She's suffered too much loss in her life to fall prey to the dangerous charm of a human who is a dead man walking. And she carries a devastating se…

“What about you, pretty boy? You gonna stand there and let your girlfriend do all the work?"

"What?" Watch my seriously hot woman put you on your fat ass and look sexy while she's doing it? Oh, yeah, I'm definitely game for that.”

"Oh, Clay darling, if you had told me you were feeling irritated because of your...problems, I wouldn't
have made a fuss." She knew very well the changelings around her could hear every whispered word.

"Tally." It was a warning growl.

"I mean it must be embarrassing for you...being that you're such a big man." her tone implied all sorts of things. "Last night was an aberration, I'm sure. And if not, there are always the pills.

...he rose to his feet and, placing his hands on the table, leaned toward her until she could've reached out and run her fingers along his freshly shaven jaw. "You are here," he said in a tone that made her heart thump wildly against her ribs, "because you belong to me."

Vasic: “How do you control your telekinesis while intimate with your mate?"

Judd: "I broke a damn lot of furniture at the start, including two beds." A curious glance. "What are you doing?"

Vasic: "Traveling around the world.”

"Look," she said, making the conscious decision to wrench herself  back before her frustrated wolf took control and she found herself feasting on male lips currently thin with anger, "it's nothing personal. I'm generally a bitch." According to Martin, she was one with a stone heart.

Riaz snorted, "Nice try, but I've seen you with others in the pack." He took another step toward her, invading her space and her senses, the scent of forest serrated with a sharper edge that was pure furious wolf. "I've even seen you smile. How about you crack open one for me?" Eyes of dark gold drilled into hers.

Hell if she was going to allow him to walk all over her. "Get out of my face."

"You sure you want me to?" he asked, a dangerous angle to his jaw, "Maybe the reason you react like a hissing cat around me is because you want me even closer."

She sucked in a breath.

Riaz's eyes widened.

A subtle movement of her throat as she swallowed. He followed it with his gaze, aware of her pulse gaining speed, her breath hitching. "I'll keep my hands to myself," she promised, voice rough. "But you can't look at me like that."

Gripping her jaw in silent answer, he braced himself with his free arm beside her head, and then he banded her mouth with his own. You are mine. It was a statement telepathed along the private pathway that had formed years ago. Mine to touch. Mine to look at. Mine. Releasing her jaw, he stroked his had down her throat to close over her breast.

Sahara shuddered.

“I don’t need a mate,” she muttered, staring up at the bright circle of the early autumn moon. “But can you send me a nice, sexy, strong male to dance with? Pretty please?
She hadn’t had a lover for close to eight months now, and it was starting to hurt on every level. “He doesn’t even have to be smart, just good between the sheets.” Good enough to unsnap the tension in her body, allow her to function again. Because sex wasn’t simply about pleasure for a cat like her-it was about affection, about trust, about everything good. “Though right this second, I’d take plain old hot sex.”
That was when Riley walked out of the shadows. “Got an itch, kitty?”

"So we literally made the earth move?"

A slight pause, before Kaleb said, "I suggest we don't engage in sex in populated areas."

Nalini Singh's Psy-Changeling Series

A Quick Guide to Who’s Who & What’s What

Many Wenches love the Psy–Changeling Series, and we REALLY love Nalini Singh.

I know, a LOT of books, huh? Well, that’s what I thought at first, but trust me, these babies get you hooked in no time. I’ll admit, some didn’t hold my interest as much as others; however, each book has something for everyone, even if it is just an appearance by a character you really loved in the previous book.
Don’t worry, I won’t go into a deep analysis of every book, but I will say a few words about this series (and try not to spoil anything) after the jump!

Quote of the Day

"The Ghost had only ever seen Judd in another context, and though intellectually he'd understood the former Arrow had a life beyond the rebellion, seeing it in reality made him take a risk, remain longer.  For this, too, he could offer no rational reason.  This was not a life he would ever have.  It may as well have been an alien wilderness.
Yet...he continued to watch."
