As much as all the Wenches love to read, we hate it just as much when we turn the last page of the newly-released book we have waited a whole year to read and realize there is another round of 365 days of torturous waiting ahead of us.
That's why we love Christmas so much. The sooner we get rid of this year, the closer to The Most Wanted Books of 2013 we get!
Let's see a few of the Wenches' most craved books of the next year.
Expected publication:
February 5th 2013 by NAL Penguin |
1. House Rules (Chicagoland Vampires #7) by Chloe Neill
In a city full of vampires, trouble never sleeps. Ethan is back and Merit is happy, but the Cadogan vampires have gone rogue. What with all the Greenwich Presidium problems, that was expected because I couldn't see any other way out of it. Who is targeting Chicago's vampires? Could it be Morgan? Would Merit's Red Guard "acquaintance" be of help now?
3. Twice Tempted (Night Prince #2) by Jeaniene Frost
Vlad said he could never give Layla love, because that emotion died in him long ago. But I want that statement to come bite him in that handsome, stubborn, Romanian butt. I will bring the popcorn and enjoy every moment when it happens.
4. Touch & Geaux (Cut & Run #7) by Abigail Roux
What do I expect from Touch & Geaux? I expect lots of action, lots of angst, and our favorite boys, Ty & Zane, to have their relationship put to the test.
And one more thing. Who the hell is Liam Bell?!
5. Dead Ever After (The Southern Vampire Mysteries #13) by Charlaine Harris
Some of us have waited for this book since 2001 when Ms. Harris published the first Sookie Stackhouse novel, Dead Until Dark. I certainly don't envy them one bit. We've gone a little off the rails as it is with all the angst, thank you very much.
6. Magic Rises (Kate Daniels #6) by Ilona Andrews
~Expected publication: August 30th 2013 by Ace~
Why am I dying to read this book? Because Ilona Andrews is sitting on a gold mine and tortures us with glimpses of it, bit by tiny bit. Not that we mind, but instead of answering questions from the previous installment, all the newly-released book (at some point) does is raise more questions. Who on earth is Hugh D'Ambary, exactly, and what does he want with Kate? Where is Roland and what is he up to? Will he finish building the Tower over Atlanta? Will there be a Kate/Curran wedding? Will Julie stay at this new school? Will they find the cure for loupism? Who helped Kate through the ritual with Julie at the end of Magic Slays? So many questions. I hope we get at least some of them answered. Any at all.
7. Guild Hunter #6 by Nalini Singh
~Expected publication: September 3rd 2013 by Jove~
Nalini Singh promised this untitled sixth book in the Guild Hunter series would take us back to Raphael and Elena's story. To Caliane and what her reawakening entails. What are Neha and Lijuan trying to accomplish? Will Honor be okay? Will we get more details about Elena's father and her past?
And although Nalini said there will be no baby in their near future, I still hope for a little winged baby because seeing the lethal, scary Archangel of New York Raphael wrapped around a child's little finger will be priceless.
~ Expected publication: Fall 2013 by Delacorte Press ~
When I asked Kathi, one of our Outlander connoisseurs, about the eighth installment of Diana Gabaldon's series, she said:
"When I was a kid, we played a card game called 52 Pickup, where we threw the entire deck up in the air, then raced to see who could retrieve and reassemble the most cards. That's what I felt like Diana Gabaldon did (three looooong years ago) at the end of An Echo in the Bone — she took several major story lines and completely upended them. I cannot WAIT for the fallout — the shocked faces, the sputtering reactions, and the delicious conversations that await us at the beginning of Written In My Own Heart's Blood! Some series become predictable after so many books, but Gabaldon is nowhere near out of surprises for her beloved characters. She has joked that there should be an octopus on the book's cover, because the stories of eight main characters will be woven together."
That should be kind of all, only...

2. Lover At Last (Black Dagger Brotherhood #11) by J.R. Ward
As Amanda said, three little words: Qhuinn and Blay!!! They finally will get their loooooong overdue HEA! Oh, I don’t expect it to be an easy road, but it will happen. As J.R. Ward said, “We will see how toxic unrequited love can be.” I also expect to see the Band of Bastards have more of a presence in this book than before. I have a sneaking suspicion that Layla will eventually mate one of them. Speaking of mating, I sure hope we get to see a Qhuinn and Blay mating ceremony!

We just need to know what will happen with Sookie. And with Eric and his Oklahoma mess. What the consequences of having used the cluviel dor and cheated death will be for Sam.
And, of course, who will Sookie choose to spend the rest of her life with?

Diana Gabaldon's idea of a cover for Written In My Own Heart's Blood www.dianagabaldon.com |

Additional wish list for 2013:
- Psy-Changeling #12 by Nalini Singh
We were guaranteed and epic surprise with a secret finally revealed. Now in the eagerly-awaited twelfth book in the series, Nalini Singh reveals the answer to the biggest Psy/Changeling mystery. We were promised a secret so shocking that the title of this book can't be revealed until publication.
- MacRieve (Immortals After Dark #13) by Kresley Cole
In the days leading up to the full moon, MacRieve has to rein in his beast. We are to expect Uilleam's mate to be a species never mentioned before. Color us intrigued.
(Night Huntress #7) by Jeaniene Frost ~Expected publication: Winter 2013 by Avon~
We don't have a clue about what this seventh Night Huntress installment will bring, but we're so starved for some Bones and Cat action that we can't wait for it!
Lover at Last and Twice Tempted are BOTH being released on March 26th? How did I miss that??
ReplyDeleteThen Touch & Geaux April 8th, and Dead Ever After May 7th?
How am I going to survive this? HOW?
Oh, and I ADORE the Wenches' letter to Santa.
It's a good list, but you forgot Ever After by Kim Harrison and Frost Burned by Patricia Briggs.
ReplyDeleteGonna be another great year for PNR/UF fans!!!
