What the Wenches are Reading

Source
We have quite a bit of variety among Wench book choices this week. Vampires, shifters, dragons, demons, reapers, Highlanders, and saucy 19th-Century socialites are keeping us busy.

We are also gearing up for March book releases like Black Dagger Brotherhood, and tv premiers like Game of Thrones. Click through to check out what we're reading.

Then don't forget to share what you're reading in the comments below!

Amanda: I am still reading Gunmetal Magic (Kate Daniels World #1) by Ilona Andrews. For the first time in a long time, I found myself reading during short car rides and otherwise trying to sneak in reading time. If you have read the Kate Daniels series, but haven't picked this one up yet, I encourage you to do so!

Anne: I'm nearly done with Dakota Cassidy's The Accidental Werewolf and I've got about 10 or so chapters left in A Dance with Dragons. So sad for it to end. Can anyone use a crystal ball to tell me when the next book will be out?

Angela:This week I finished reading The Way of Shadows (Night Angel #1) by Brent Weeks. The book was so good that I've requested the second from the library. It has been a long time since I've read a book I haven't wanted to put down. Also read First Grave on the Right (Charley Davidson #1) by Darynda Jones, and ditto what Merit said last week. I haven't laughed so much at a book in a long time. Thanks for recommending these, Nat. They are a great discovery. There must be nothing on telly lately, as I've now started Drums of Autumn (Outlander #4) by Diana Gabaldon.

Barbara: Finally finished rereading Twice Bitten and moved on to Biting Cold (why yes, I DID skip a couple of books. And I'm okay with that). I also got the audiobook of Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet from my library. I'm listening to it during my commute, and really enjoying it. I just adore Charley's smartassery, and Reyes is so fhott!

Beta: I didn't read anything this week. Real Life has been getting in the way, but hopefully I'll have a chance to pick up a book soon.

Donna: This week, I was definitely spoiled. I read both Chloe Neill's House Rules,(I know, I know, I'm probably the last Wench to read it) it was gooooood, and this morning I finished Kim Harrison's Ever After, which continues the adventures of Rachel Morgan, witch-turned-daywalking demon. I have to tell you, I'm pretty crazy about Rachel, Jenks, Al, Trent, and some of the other characters (specifically NOT Nick, who's a bastard!).

Katherine: Given that Lover At Last is coming out in a month, I am going back to Caldwell, New York to spend some time with the brothers of the Black Dagger Brotherhood!! Let's hear it for Wrath!

Kathi: Based on (1) a Wench recommendation and (2) its #3 spot on the Goodreads list of Favorite Historical Romances, I started reading Lisa Kleypas’s Wallflowers series. I needed to escape RL angst, and these books have been perfect! So I retract my previous comment that I don’t read HEAs. *sheepish grin* Set in 1843 England, these books are reminiscent of Austen story lines but much less formal and a whole lot sexier. The series title refers to the heroines, a group of 4 slightly non-traditional debutantes (i.e., with brains, personalities, skills, and opinions) searching unsuccessfully for husbands during London’s social season. They are the perpetual wallflowers, and they decide to become friends and help each other find husbands instead of moping about it. I do confess to a little eye rolling, but in general these are fun, fast, feel-very-good reads.

Olga: I haven't read anything this week, but I just picked up House Rules at the point where I left off.

Veronica: I just finished Wicked Deeds on a Winter's Night of the Immortals After Dark series by Kresley Cole. I'll be taking a break from the Lore to revisit the Black Dagger Brotherhood in preparation for the release of Lover at Last. Our time has come, Qhuay!

Zee: I have been reading such crap that it doesn't bear mentioning!

Comments

  1. I'm reading a different kind of books that I don't normally pick. The Real Vampires have Curves series by Gerry Bartlett, on the third one In his series right now.

  2. Don't know why mine didn't show up, anyway here goes: I am still with Charley Davidson, read "For I Have Sinned" Which is a short story that fits between book 1 and 2,a sweet short story that shows CD world from a different pov. I read book 3 and yes! brilliant, funny, even better than the first. I w ill wait a while before book 4,don't want the fun and hotness to end too quickly.
